SPARKLERS are wire rods coated in a pyrotechnic material that will emit sparks for up to 2 minutes. Sparklers are the only fireworks device designed to be hand held. The wire is still very hot when it is finished sparkling, take care not to burn yourself or someone close by. Basically, a sparkler is a hand-held firework that burns slowly while emitting coloured flames, sparks, and other effects.
A sparkler is often used by children at bonfire and fireworks displays. In Canada sparklers are often displayed on Canada Day again by children. Sparklers are called Phool Jhadi in India and are popular during the Diwali festival.
